Here’s how it works (exact details follow the polls): Vote & then tell your friends all about the awards. Not only will you be supporting your favourite authors, but you’ll then be entered into a draw for a $25 gift certificate from a major online bookseller (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.) For the authors, winning authors will get free advertising here, an icon to put on their website, and they’ll be entered to win a gift basket.     Just stopping by to add a few votes to kim’s efforts to get the vote sneaky i know but looking at the other authors listed i was astounded to notice there was no mention of what i think is a break through book it may be classed as urban ,young adult,horror,paranormal romance,fantasy but what ever it is its a new voice and a diffreent take on things the book ” Sunshine”
    by Robin Mckinley or the fact that Martin Millar doesnt even get a mention is a traversty if you dont take comedy in your urban fantasy then pass up The Good Fairies of New York by all means but how can you walk away from Lonely Werewolf Girl urban gritty unreal .

    Dont get me started on Stephenie Meyer whos first book i liked whos second made me not want to pick up the third is it a truly outstanding series or just hollywood looking for the next JK Rowling and i wont mention a cartoon based on a boy who learns he can do magic by another famous author,

    First book i read maybe one of the best urban fantasy books The Monster Club published in 1975 , is one of the funniest and most entertaining books I have ever read and started my love affair with all things monstery closely followed by tolkin ,

    Id love your readers opionion on twighlight should it have been made into a film ??? or do they have a book a story that they think deserves to be a film instead did it capture there vision of the book ? ,how many times have we read and loved a book to be let down by the film or wishing wed read the book first

    So ive waffled abit on my soapbox of doom though sadly its more like a pile of books waiting for more shelf space a few final words how many series suffer from the dreaded drop of author concentration of destroying that charcter that grabs your attention and keeps you coming back for more should we really push for more urban fantasy and suffer sub standard books becuase there popular or in vogue i meet people all the time who love anne rice but have never read about anita betsy sookie to name but a few does classifying add anything to the novels we love or hide ones we havent found yet where do books like Once fit in if i hadnt been in the horror section would i have ever found these books how many male readers will find anita blake if they have to go to the paranormal romance section a well written book is a joy for everyone not some randomly aimed group of people that where told should read them .
